Virginia Health Workforce Analysis Dashboards

The Mason Center for Health Workforce provides data and information relevant to health workforce planning and analysis. It includes measures to assess:

  • the health needs of state and regional populations
  • employer demand/needs for health, behavioral health, and social services workers to support those needs; and
  • the education and training pipeline producing new entrants for health, behavioral health, and social services occupations

Workforce Supply

Estimates the distribution and demographics of health, behavioral health, public health, and social services professionals and the capacity of and graduates from training and education programs.

Workforce Demand

Estimates of workforce demand are based on outlooks for job growth, annual openings, and reports from employers on vacancies, turnover, and time to fill positions in their organizations.

Social Determinants of Health

Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
